By JUIT Timetable Team | Last Updated: August 2026

While the mess provides all the meals one can ask for, every JUITian eventually ends up craving for a change. Whether you want to have a quick Maggi between your classes or a decent dinner on the weekends, here are the top places to eat in the Waknaghat region.

1. Negi Dhaba

Distance: ~500 meters from the university gates

Negi Dhaba is undoubtedly the most preferred eating joint among the JUITians. It is super close to the university (you can literally walk down during your breaks), it has fast service, and most importantly, it has great and cheap rates for all JUITians. It's a great place to have Parathas, Maggi, and Chai on a foggy morning.

2. Moksh Hotel & Restaurant

Distance: ~100 meters from the university gates (Right next door!)

Looking for a slightly better ambiance with proper sitting arrangements and great food? You should checkout Moksh. It has great vegetarian food, and trust us, the Balcony view of the valley is something you should not miss out on! Moksh is also super popular for evening snacks (samosas and spring rolls).

3. Dilli Gate Restaurant

Distance: ~3.5 km from the university (Near the main highway)

Located close to the main highway approach, Dilli Gate has some amazing food items in its menu. It's perfect for having a thali or order some curry dishes when you get bored of the mess food, but don't feel like heading all the way towards Solan.

4. Hill Point

Distance: ~3 km from the university (Near Waknaghat bus stand)

Another eating joint that is really close to the main bus stand of Waknaghat that the students usually pass by on their way down. It serves standard Dhaba-style meals and fast food.

5. Heading towards Solan (Mall Road)

If it's a weekend and you can manage to take a bus or a taxi towards Solan (around 25 km away), there are a ton of great places to eat and drink. Some of the best cafes and restaurants in Solan are:
